BRAND IDENTITY: MONUMENTS ACROSS APPALACHIAN VIRGINIA
Monuments Across Appalachian Virginia is a three-year project funded by the Mellon Foundation and housed at Virginia Tech. Its aim is to work with communities in Appalachian Virginia to create six to ten new monuments commemorating stories in Appalachian history and culture that have been underrepresented in the past. The project team provided text and photos for the following series of posters, which showcase examples of existing monuments that embody the philosophy MAAV will apply to the new monuments they create:
YOUR VERY OWN STAR WARS STORY: EXPERIENCING DESIGN AT GALAXY'S EDGE
This fusion of academic writing and graphic design was my senior thesis project in the Department of Film, Television, and Theatre at the University of Notre Dame. I traveled to Walt Disney World in Orlando; wrote an analysis of the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge themed land regarding immersive design, guest experience, and story in relation to the larger Star Wars franchise; and then created this presentation, including design elements and photography to help better illuminate the colorful world of themed entertainment design. Click on the images to view the full-size versions. (Note: This is a still prototype of what will eventually become an interactive presentation, so some elements including video playback are not active in this version.)
